Mfera recently hosted a significant farewell ceremony for its graduating Form Four class of 2025. Dr. Owen Chomanika, the current Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change in Malawi, was represented at the event by his wife. Dr. Chomanika demonstrated his commitment to education and the students' future by generously sponsoring the farewell and administration of examination 500,000 respectively.
over 60 students are the first ever at the school to sit for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examination in Computer Studies. This marks a historical moment for Mfera, as Computer Studies was only introduced as an examinable JCE subject in January 2024. The school's headteacher expressed pride in the students' hard work and the importance of these skills for their future.
Mfera CDSS in Chikwawa has bought 50 new desks through self-generated funds to improve classroom conditions and learning environment. Headteacher Mr. Edward Mitiwe said, “This is a big step forward. The desks will reduce overcrowding and give our students a sense of pride and ownership.”
Malawi Blood Transfusion Service donated sports materials to Mfera CDSS through its Club 25 project to encourage student participation in sports and promote physical well-being. Patron Mussa Mashonga expressed pride in supporting both academic and physical excellence and encouraged everyone to donate blood to save lives.
